[RLUG] NV State Fair

Hello all,   I lurk in the background here and wanted to pass some information on to all of you. I am friends with the Executive Director of the Nevada State Fair (Mike Clements) and I was talking with him today and I mentioned that he was working with RLUG to get some computers in and he did not know anything of it. However, he is obviously very interested in opening every channel of communication with all of us. I mentioned to him what I understood about the NV State Fair Project and he wanted me to pass his information on to all of you.   Mike Clements Executive Director 1350-A North Wells Ave. Reno, Nevada 89512 [EMAIL PROTECTED]   During that conversation he also mentioned some of his initiatives for the next years fair. One of which was to try to organize a technology section with local businesses and anyone else he could get to participate. I think that this is a good opportunity for everyone to get the word out and to also offer some additional resources to the fair to make it a better event for all of our community. I have cc’d Mike on this email so that he can try to get more involved with all of you. But I would recommend that someone take a lead and follow up with him on the NV Fair project currently being discussed here and to also take the opportunity he came back to all of us with to get some kind of technology booth going for the fair itself.   A Little History; Jay and I in 1996 and 1997 set up a booth at the fair that had a few SGI’s and MS systems  and maybe even a LINUX machine connected to an ISDN. As you can expect it was interesting but we did get a lot of people who came by our booth and we were able to get the word out about our business at the time. I think with all the cool things that LINUX presents you guys could put together a cool booth that would educate and involve attendees to the fair.
