Have you tried the SATA RAID driver from ASUS?

I've had good results with ASUS boards - they seem to provide linux drivers for all the onboard functions.

Greetings all,
Today marks my first full day of freedom. I write to all of you from the desktop of my PC which has no M$ on it. Fedora Core 2 graces my hard drive now.
My motherboard is an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe and it was natively recognized at every level except for the SATA RAID does not work quite right. Fedora saw the device and allegedly configured it but RAID 0 and 1 failed to pass GRUB. I dropped in an IDE drive for now and it is going. In contrast, XP Pro SP1a did not recognize the SATA, 100mb NIC, 1000mb NIC or on-board audio so mad props to Linus here.
Of course now I must embark on the journey of replacement for all the little things I used to do in Windows. Whatever I don't get on my own I bet I know a place to ask :)
