I've had good experriences with Nagios.  Right now I have it monitoring
123 services on 52 hosts including Linux Servers, Windows Servers, Cisco
Routers, and HP Switches.  It works much better than what we were using
before (nothing) :)

My biggest gripe with it was configuration.  I'm used to it now, but it
took me a while to get comfortable with.  I've seen some packages
recently that can aid in the configuration, but haven't tried any of
them yet.
