Todd & All:

Thank you for the talk on Samba last week. I have an odd problem that I cannot seem to resolve from looking in the usual places. If anyone has a suggestion on where to look I'd be quite grateful.

We have 3 Samba servers here. Some time ago I set one of them up with a shared printer and directory to allow people here a print-to-PDF service as outlined in this article:

http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue72/bright.html

As time went by things just worked through various updates - until I updated from Samba 2.2 to Samba 3.0. At this point SOME Windows workstations lost the ability to print to the PDF pseudoprinter or connect to the shared directory where the PDF files would end up. Finally, this afternoon, I reverted to Samba 2.2 and everyone can print and connect again. I use the same smb.conf file for both versions.

We have a (NT4) domain and I'm using "security = server", but I also set up "security = domain" per the instructions at

http://us4.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/domain-member.html#id2522044

with the same results.

Does anyone have a suggestion on where I could look next? Thanks!
