I'm currently playing with QEMU, as well as UML. I'd be very interested
in having a talk sometime about emulation, as well as a general
breakdown of the available software.
I'd prefer to attend instead of give that particular talk, but I can if
no one else wants to do it. Basically, I think it would be useful for
people to know what their options are, as well as why someone might use
one instead of the other.
My $0.02:
- UML in SKAS-mode is better for performance and security, and makes
a better choice for virtual hosting.
- QEMU is more featureful, easier to use, and less intrusive (no
patching required).
- Friends don't let friends use Bochs.
- VMware has a great GUI and is (relatively) easy to use, although
it's a little more limited in supported kernels/platforms.
Anyway, I think this would make a great mid-range or advanced topic for
a future meeting.
