Thanks to all the RLUG members who offered their advice. I have a
working installation now and I did it without messing up my Windows
partition. :)
I used EXT3 for the file system and I was able to create partitions
after I deleted the extrra Windows partitions. GRUB is the boot
loader. ALSA for interfacing with the SoundBlaster Live! card.
Well, I know the adventure is only starting, since each new discovery
leads to others to solve: SAMBA server, SSH server, plugins for media
files, etc.
But, it sure does feel good to use the command line again!
