I used to use great basin dialup until about 1.5 years ago, and they had
excellent service. That's when i was still using windows to connect to
the net though, and had set up internet connection sharing. I switched
to broadband because it was in my best interest, as far as connecting
the linux box, and having better access to downloading linux iso's in
general.
If your "old system" is the only/major reason for not getting broadband,
as i mentioned a couple posts back, Disability Resources offers sweet
deals, approx 700 MHz, 256 MB, 20+ Gig box for approx $100.
Of course, if you do not desire broadband, gbis is my only dialup
experience, and they were great.

Hello All,
I want to change my MCI/UUNET dial access to to a local company.
Do any of you still using dial access have any comments or
recomendations regarding the following providers. Access
will be for a Linux desktop using the KPPP dialer.
Broadband is not an option for the old system I have.
