I admit I actually am in love with open office. The first time I ran
Star Office on my computer I felt like really disgusted and it was so
bloated and gross and the fake windows start bar. But the one in Debian
now is great. I've made many a presentation in it and the pdf export is
fantastic. Although for serious document formatting I'm using scribus.
What's the changelog look like? What are you referring to by Mass
dropping MS Office. Do you mean that recruiters aren't going to request

Mass = Massachusetts :-)

Massachusetts has mandated open formats (OpenDoc and PDF) for all govt documents.

It's also my understanding Massachusetts will be buying 500,000 of the new MIT-developed $100 laptops from the Negroponte foundation next year, which runs Linux only, to be distributed free to all their schools. It sounds like Mass. is squarely behind open source and perhaps Linux.

Quote CNN, today's news: "In the second year -- when Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney hopes to start buying them for all 500,000 middle and high-school students in this state -- Negroponte envisions 100 million to 150 million being made. (He boasts that these humble $100 notebooks would surpass the world's existing annual production of laptops, which is about 50 million.)"

See: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/09/30/mit.laptop.ap/index.html

or numerous other industry sources.
