Damnit Josh! That's not what I want to hear! Although, everyone on the
Internet has been confirming your observation about using the xorg driver
;) I'll keep on the problem. Hopefully a solution will be found before
the next RLUG meeting.

Hey Sebastian,
I had a lot of issues with the ATI drivers on my laptop. I have the mobile
8500 or 8000 in my Dell and when I ran the ATI drivers it made my screen go
crazy, it looked like it was buringing up. I made a few changes based on
stuff I found on the Gentoo forums, but I still could not get external out
working. I had to just use generic X.org <http://X.org> drivers to get it to
work which ment a max resolution of like 800x600. When I changed to to the
generic X.org <http://X.org> driver I just used the script that makes an
x.conf file and it might have had the line you are looking for in it. I
would send you a copy of it but I had to format my laptop and put WinXP back
on it for some software I needed for class that has no Linux port yet.
That's the best advice that I have.

Hi All,
I have an IBM T43 laptop. It has a Radeon Mobility M300 PCIe graphics
card onboard. I'm having trouble getting it to switch to the external VGA
port. I can switch to the external output in console without issue, but X
does not respond to the ACPI switch screen events. I'm using the flgrx
drivers from ATI, so I think I may be missing an option in xorg.conf to
support screen switching. If you have any ideas I'm more than willing to
try them.
Thanks,
