Hi, Hope your Holidays have been fun, and the New Year good to all of us.
Now to the dilemma: One high school student wanted to upgrade her Windows and didn't know about nasty M$ Validation. She has a project due in one week. I pulled an all-nighter putting her hard drive in my P4-WinXP box as slave for all the virus and malware scanning. I was able to back up some of her documents to my box, but her Favorites, Address Book, plus some others wouldn't. I had to wait for HP Restore CDs and today they arrived. I grabbed a few new toys: An AC powered USB hub and an adapter that lets internal IDE drives work off USB. Thanks to PCLinuxOS P-92 LiveCD I have them on a Fat32 formatted hard drive. Now do I need to do anything to the files in Linux with permissions or attributes to be sure they will be readable in WinXP Home. They were just in the "Owner" part of Documents and Settings, but I may have made a different Admin password. Will that make any difference? Jog my memory, so I don't get buried in Google Linux or my older Red Hat books trying to figure it out at the last minute. She's expecting to pick it up today. Thanks so much, Joan _______________________________________________ RLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.rlug.org/mailman/listinfo/rlug
