Jennifer,

I have yet to come across a CD burner that doesn't work in Linux with
the generic burner drivers, 'cdrecord' and 'cdrdao', and the beautiful,
better-than-anything-on-Windows CD burning application, K3b.

As far as a brand name or model goes, as long as it has the speed you
want and it comes with at least a 1-year warranty they are all about the
same. I used to swear by HP but they kept getting more and more pricey,
so the last time I needed a new burner I bought a cheaper-than-dirt
Lite-On model. It's been running for over 2 years now.
