Looking at the message again it says to just disable hotplug. I guess that means ALL of hotplug.Hi Dennis, If you are running a newer 2.6.x kernel, you can remove hotplug without much worry. Unless, you are running special modded firmwares for certain devices... Most newer 2.6.x based distros, such as Debian (and its derivatives: U/KuBuntu) use udev for hotplug device support. Hotplug is included primarily for legacy support. If you are running one of these, you could safely remove the hotplug package: something like 'dpkg -r -P hotplug', or use something more friendly like apt. If you have any devices that are no longer detected or give you any problems, you can always reinstall it just as easily. I personally, have yet to need hotplug anymore running Ubuntu Breezy, except on my mythtv box. Enjoy, Colin |
