yes.
regular ISO cd (or dvd) will play in it.
if you insert it you'll get a dir list, can maneuver up
and down with arrow keys, and play the selected file,
and, while it's playing, do the usual operations (ffwd,
pause and so on) just like with a "real" movie ;)

Just make sure you get one of these advanced players,
obviously not all brands/models can do that.

In some cases (such as series) I even did used transcode
or mencoder to create avi from dvd, that way you use up
the least number of media (not really relevant any more
at $0.20 or less per disc. though)
