I read with horror and fascination the long thread from the summer about calling MSSQL from Linux/PHP. From this and other discussions on the net there seem to be 2 or 3 paths (MSDB2, ?), all of which require rebuilding PHP with the mssql option enabled? I ask about this because I queried my PHP setup with Kyle's little script and the config answers show --without-mysql and --without-mssql. Yet there is a mysql section in the config info (and mysql is installed, for other purposes). But not a mssql section. There is also --with-unixODBC=/shared/usr and later --without-unixODBC in the config info. I assume the last option prevailed? This was from a package on a Fedora Core 5 distro.
Must I absolutely categorically rebuild PHP? And do I want to select all the options in my current config list on the build (except with changes I want)? I am able to connect to the MSSQL box with tsql from the command line, but not with isql, which tells me the ODBC is failing; freetds is installed and I set up an ODBC data source from the instructions in the discussion. I'm now looking for the freetds logs...any comments very welcome.
