Hello I just went through the same gyrations during the install process myself.
The documentation is a little confusing and does not specifically say WHERE to
install the RPMS. NOTHING needs to be installed on MDT or the lustre oss’.
All you need is a decent server or VM which has the lustre client and can mount
the lustre file system that you want to monitor.
