Hi Colin,

What makes you think Fileclass matching is failing?
Is this --class-info report, or policy application?

Thomas

Hi,

So after some investigation, it seems that even simple FileClass's
fail to match on our build of 3.0:

Product:         robinhood
Version:         3.0-0.alpha1
Build:           2016-03-09 09:19:35

Compilation switches:
    Lustre filesystems
    Lustre Version: 2.5
    Address entries by FID
    MDT Changelogs supported

Database binding: MySQL

Here are the two class definitions which don't match anything:

#### fileclass definitions ####
FileClass test_files {
        Definition {
                type == file and path == "/mnt/lustre/testdata"
       }
}

FileClass empty_files {
        Definition {
                type == file and size == 0
        }
}

/mnt/lustre/testdata does exist, and we do have zero byte files on the
file system. We're investigating why this isn't working now and will
post more once we find a solution.

    Okay, so regardless as to -F or not on robinhood cli, my
    empty_files policy should be functional?

        Hi Colin,

        Here is the description of "-F" option in v3:

               -F, --force
                      Force applying policies even if no full scan has
        never been done (partial DB contents).

        In v2.x, robinhood was preventing to apply policies when
        robinhood was not aware of the whole filesystem contents (if
        no full scan has been done).
        "-F" option overrides this check, and allow applying policies
        even if no full scan has been done.
        There is no relationship with fileclasses.

        Regards,
        Thomas

        Hi Thomas,

        Yes, sorry robinhood itself, not any of the sub functions.

            Hi Colin,

            About -F option: can you please precise what command you
            talk about: robinhood, rbh-report, rbh-find, rbh-du, ... ?

            Thanks

            With 3.0, should a file class be matched and executed on
            if -F is present?

            FileClass empty_files {
                    Definition {
            type == file and size == 0
                   }
            }

            Shouldn't this match any files that are zero bytes?
            Shouldn't this hit and be actionable with -F present?
