Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your advice.

The workflow is simply as README in tarball of robinhood.

1.) I downloaded tarball from sourceforge
(https://sourceforge.net/projects/robinhood/, robinhood 3.0-rc1)

2.) Extract tarball

3.) Did "./configure" on my server (It's a lustre client)

4.) Did "make rpm" on my server

Afterward, we tried download robinhood via git then "./configure" and "make
rpm".

This time, we got rpms successfully as following:

-bash-4.2# ls -l /opt/src/robinhood/rpms/RPMS/x86_64/
total 3468
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 7292 Sep 12 14:59
robinhood-adm-3.0-0.rc1.noarch.x86_64.rpm
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 2069800 Sep 12 14:59
robinhood-debuginfo-3.0-0.rc1.lustre2.5.el7.x86_64.rpm
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 659000 Sep 12 14:59
robinhood-lustre-3.0-0.rc1.lustre2.5.el7.x86_64.rpm
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 120664 Sep 12 14:59
robinhood-tests-3.0-0.rc1.noarch.x86_64.rpm
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 12300 Sep 12 14:59
robinhood-tools-3.0-0.rc1.lustre2.5.el7.x86_64.rpm
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 667760 Sep 12 14:59
robinhood-webgui-3.0-0.rc1.noarch.x86_64.rpm

We are reading README now, then we will install Robinhood.

Is there any default "purge" policy after robinhood has been installed?

Because we want to install it on prodution, have to disable policy like "purge"
(delete data) once installation done.

Appreciate for your help.

Subject: Re: [robinhood-support] Fail to "make rpm" with robinhood_v3

Hi Bruce,

The problem is you ran ./configure and make rpm on different systems with
different system installation state:

- First ./configure did not detect a Lustre client, so it generated the source
files or spec file for a POSIX FS.
- But the second ./configure (run at rpmbuild step) did detect lustre, so it
generated lustre-only binairies.
So at the end you got a mismatch between the packaging and the actual set of
binairies.

Can you explain me your RPM build workflow, so I can figure out how to solve
your issue?

There are pending patches that make it possible to generate robinhood spec file
or a srpm on a given host with minimal requirements,
and then build it on another host, or using mock, to generate the binary RPM.
Would it be you need?

Regards,
Thomas.

Hi,

We would like to setup robinhood v3 on RHEL 7.1 with lustre 2.5.

However, we fail to "make rpm".

Could you kindly give some clue? We have attach output of "configure" and "make
rpm" for your reference.
