Hi Thomas,

Indeed:

[root@head01 ~]# ls -l /data/.lustre
total 8
d--x------ 2 root root 4096 Jun  8  2016 fid
dr-x------ 2 root root 4096 Jun  8  2016 lost+found

However, the .lustre directory apparently is a 'magical' lustre directory, see for instance https://jira.hpdd.intel.com/browse/LU-5044. If that's the case I'd rather not touch it. Should robinhood perhaps discard this directory?

Regards Reinoud

Hello,

Apparently you run rbh-find as a user and you have restricted permissions on /data/.lustre or /data/.lustre/fid directory so the command can't access it. So run the command as root, or grant the 'x' permission to your user on these directories.

Regards.

Hi,

Since upgrading robinhood from 2.5 to 3.1 we get the following error when a user runs rbh-find or rbh-du:

[user@head01 ~]$ rbh-find /data/projects -name 'sky'
Using config file '/etc/robinhood.d/lustre.conf'.
2018/03/29 09:34:48 [190777/1] _set_mount_point | Error: failed to get FID for special directory </data/.lustre/fid/>: Permission denied.
2018/03/29 09:34:48 [190777/1] InitFS | Error -13 checking Filesystem
WARNING: cannot access filesystem /data (Permission denied), find output may be incomplete.

The ".lustre" directory is only visible to user root but not to ordinary users. The Robinhood version reports:

[root@head01 ~]# rbh-du --version
Product:         robinhood 'du' command
Version:         3.1-1
Build:           2017-09-25 14:24:05
Compilation switches:
    Address entries by FID
    MDT Changelogs supported
Lustre Version: 2.9
Database binding: MySQL

Do we need to turn off the compilation switch for "Address entries by FID" (we have installed standard rpm's from https://sourceforge.net/projects/robinhood/files/robinhood/3.1/)?
No

To be complete, our lustre clients are version 2.9.0, however the lustre servers (MDS, OSS) are on 2.7.0.

Thanks,

Reinoud Bokhorst
