The priorities for the core development team are based on the needs of the teams using Robot at NSN this probably isn't critical for them. At the moment it isn't even clear when 2.7 will be done -- developing RIDE further and some internal projects also have very high priority.
Personally I would really like to get this done ASAP. Unfortunately the required changes are relatively large so I'm not too interested to do it on my own time. If you (= your company) is interested to help somehow let us know.
