1) The new installation system must support also pip (originally issue 885), distribute, and other Python installation tools.
2) Godefroid Chapelle has done some great work to make the installation possible with pip and others. Hopefully that work can be incorporated into Robot in 2.7. For more information see this discussion on rf-devel mailing list:
