why not leave the old scripts in for a revision, and have them print a warning or something? They would still work as usual, but add an additional message that any scripts that rely on the old name will need to be upgraded for the next release.
I foresee a problem where I try to roll out this version to my company. I'll need to coordinate the upgrade on dozens of machines with a push of updates to our own runner scripts.
