Comment #1 on issue 1732 by pekka.klarck: 'Not performed' state next to
PASSED / FAILED
http://code.google.com/p/robotframework/issues/detail?id=1732
1) Having "skipped" state has been requested several times earlier and I
agree it would sometimes be useful. There several reasons why it is not
going to be implemented in the foreseeable future:
- You already now can make test non-critical and get more or less the same
effect.
- Adding more states would be a very, very big task requiring changes to
test execution logic, logs and reports, documentation, etc. I doubt anyone
is interested to do that on his/her own time nor someone would be
interested to sponsor it.
- There are valid reasons to add even more states. Deciding what to add
would be complicated. Making it somehow configurable would be good but
require even more work.
2) I disagree that failed pre-condition should automatically mean that test
is skipped. Having an explicit way to signal that would be ok. Nowadays you
can do that by setting test critical using Set Tags or Remove Tags keywords.
