.net has all the same functionality, secure platform, internet APIs, etc. In
many ways they are very close to each other. My reason for going with .net
is the close integration with other MS technology (SQL server, Windows
services, etc). Also, I'm writing the indexer in .net, so it only makes
sense to the spider in it as well.

I had considered taking an open source Java spider and running through the
MS Java to C# converter. I may still end up doing this, but I had hoped
someone had a .net version started.
