Here's a link to a graph I did quite a while ago, of people on the Brin-L mailing list: http://www.mccmedia.com/brin-l-network-25-links.jpg It's the output of link analysis -- people who are linked to at least 25 others (by responding within 2 or 3 messages of each other in the same thread) and their nearest neighbors. Here's a more recent one, showing the degree of connectedness among a number of java developer forums: http://www.mccmedia.com/java-connections.gif The most connected topics (measured by number of participants in common, with some weighting by other factors) are in the top right, least connected are in the lower left. I'm not happy with the colors, but this is the best I've been able to come up with so far. I can produce it in 3-D, but that's worse, it seems. Interesting that cryptography was the most interconnected topic...
