Shirley - Driving to work...heard it on the radio.

Karen - taking care of my mother who was dying of cancer

Nate -- In Marine Boot Camp at Camp Pendleton California on the Rifle Firing Range

EmmaJo-- In the school office.... Watchin it on T.V...

Jarod Clark - 5th grade classroom. everyone was getting taken out of school and i had no clue what was up

Cinndyy Luskk-6Th grade...in mrs.adkins class watchin it on the news my granny was a school cook so she took me home early

Jeremy Toler- I was in Mrs. Trent's class, 5th Period, in the 8th grade, and i was throwing stuff out of the windows , trying to hit stuff

Jamie Carter- on my way to college and hear the news report on the radio as I was crossing Horsepen Mountain. I'll never forget that day.

Lisa Miller- sitting in Chemistry class at college. One girl came in late with this horrid look on her face as she had heard it on the news, but didn't tell us until class was over. We came home and watched TV for what seemed like forever unsure what was going to happen next.

Janetta-At my parents house cleaning up to go to the hospital. My sister had just gave birth the night before to my niece. My dad was in the living room when Della called and asked if we had the news on and told my dad about it and then he turned the news on and all that day at the hospital there is all everybody was talking about or watching on tv.

Michael--I was sitting at my desk, waiting for my Humanities II class to begin.  How ironic, huh!?!

Bill-Just getting ready to start work. A co-worker came outside and told us the WTC was burning. Got into the break room just as second plane hit.

Pam- i got a phone call into 411 saying that a plane had just hit the first tower, and connected this person to my supervisor. I put the special light on and went into the break room and saw just as the second tower was hit. ironically, one of my co workers got a call from one of the planes that hit elsewhere.

Nancy Schultz:  I was at work and my pager was going off, like it did every day with weather, stock tips etc., which I didn't bother to look at.  If I had, I would have been aware of what was going on.  I later got a call from my husband telling me about it all, and starting crying my eyes out, trying to contact my niece who is a flight attendant for American Airlines.  I finally got a hold of her mother, to find out she wasn't flying that day.  A day I and all of America will never forget.

Susan:  I was on my way to work  At the time, I lived just 4 miles from O'Hare Airport.   I heard the stand-down and land orders.  It was bizarre driving to work with no airplane noise.  My nephew had just joined up with the Navy and was stationed in Sicily.  He was on non-duty that day.  He was on leave in town, a few hours behind central time, and saw people jabbering and crying and pointing at a big-screen TV in an appliance store.  At first he wondered why they were so upset at a "movie" they were watching; but almost immediately he became aware that this was no "movie" and headed back to the base, which was on Delta lockdown.
