If you install autoporj from git I think it would be a good way of testing new versions. Just installing the gem might be a bit annoying in the case of an error (no history / no pull request / no revert).
Is there a way to tell autoproj to do "gem build ..." and "gem install" for a specific ruby package for example via 'gem_package' in the package sets? Anyway, is there a reason why you install autoproj as gem in the first place? I really like the approach form homebrew here (everything is a git).
