hi Roberto,

I'm not a registererd Coder, so don't count on my opinion, but I
think, this would be great, even better then the feature-request which
is already there (see
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/TagCache)!
I will definitely include your patch in my personal build!

Let me first say that I am new to rockbox and rockbox-dev, and may what I am
about to say has been said many times already.

I am pleased with the overall functionality of Rockbox, however I mainly use
the tag cache, and switching from id3 to file mode whenever I want to browse
the filetree is a little inconvenient.

I am about to start coding a patch to make the navigation work the following
way: The starting menu will defined on a file, i.e. tagnavi.config, each
entry will be as now related to tag navigation, or related to a file or
directory. This way one can configure what is shown in the main menu and for
examples include a common used plugin, an image, a playlist, some root
directory or a submenu defined in the same way.

Looking at the code it seems that the structure used by filetree and tagtree
is the same, so the functionality is almost there.

I just wanted to know if this feature has already been proposed, if someone
has already started coding something similar and if it seems reasonable to
you.

All the best,
Roberto.
