C coding is not for the faint of heart, I'd suggest you at least find
some C primers on the net, it's quite a bit more complex than the
scripting I'm guessing you're familiar with.

Hi,
What should I read to start being able to write my own patches for
rockbox. I have been reading stuff on using the printf function and
compiling c files in to executables and displaying stuff on the screen.
Things weren't compiling as they should and I don't really care about
building applications at the minute. I just want to be able to write
patches for rockbox and make my player read more things. I would also
like to update a couple of patches. So if someone could tell me where I
should go to get started with all this I would greatly appreciate it.
