The Directory Cache takes a small amount of memory away from Rockbox
that would otherwise be used to buffer music, but it speeds up

Hmm, this implies that it only affects the file browser.  In reality,
Dircache seems to speed up all disk access - or am I just being placebo
effected?

it does low level caching... so its all file accesses...

Hi, so does using dircache lower the number of times the disc has to spin up? Also, I hope that the author of patch 9621 gets that sorted, as I always hate disc access, as I am very concious that my 140 is getting old.
