I am personally of the opinion that we need to have at least a few really good ideas present to even bother to apply as an organization.

Well, two ideas come almost immediately into my mind. Rockbox as an Application and Multifont. I have a few ideas regarding both, but probably not enough to volunteer as a student (yet).

I wouldn't think that multifont is a summer's worth of coding.

In general, I think we should try and propose projects that have a low barrier for entry - Rockbox as App is definitely a worthwhile project (so I agree it should be on the list), but requires a lot of knowledge of the existing Rockbox codebase to do well, so I would be surprised if someone volunteers for that.

Now that Rockbox is starting to work on a new generation of targets with faster CPUs, alternative video codecs seem plausible - so working on the video playing aspects of Rockbox would be a nice improvement, and potentially a lot more than a summer of coding.

Regards,

Dave.
