Hi,

I've noticed that sometimes when Rockbox shuts down it leave the boot
code confused as to the charge state of the battery. The iPod will
refuse to boot with the usual Menu key and when plugged in to the USB
reports very low battery. Once I give it the two finger salute and
reboot into Rockbox everything is fine.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour before?

Yes, it's a very common issue. The conclusion seems to be that this is a bug in Apple's bootloader code - ipod users have also reported it without Rockbox installed.

The difference is that Rockbox always performs a real power-off, whereas the Apple firmware just enters a low-power sleep mode, and then performs a real power-off after a certain number of days of uninterrupted sleep. So the problem is seen more often with Rockbox.

Dave.
