I think these are very stable, I have no problem with my Clip+. Regarding USB, the patch on FS seems to work well even though under Windows it get the device connected in 1.1 mode (Full Speed) instead of 2.0 mode (High Speed) for an unknown reason. The question is whether we want seemingly working USB in stable or not. I redirect you to the FS task for mode information.
