This is truely the end of an era; IMO we should acknowledge this by a new (major) version number (so, 4.0). Also the whole codebase will change a lot by the patches, even without functional changes, so I think it's useful to have a clear crop mark like "3.x code vs. >=4.0 code". I wonder if we should take the opportunity and do additional code organising changes, like relocating files, reordering functions, etc.
Going forward, there will be no more daily builds or any further consideration given to continuing to maintain the Archos platform and the infrastructure that exists solely to support it. This includes the entire sh architecture, non-bitmap LCDs, buttonbars, HWCODEC support, and the many, many special cases littered all over the codebase and hosting infrastructure.
Is it possible to fork off something like a "legacy branch"? So if suddenly someone shows up who is interrested in the old archos he can easily commit new patches or backport stuff from the master brach. No need to keep the infrastructure though IMO.
However, past releases continue to work as well as they ever have, and will remain available for download indefinitely, both via the web site and the rockbox utility.

Although I never had an archos device I feel the same. The very least we can do is a memorial page with same pictures and stuff on the web. The whole rockbox project would probably not exist without them, so I will definitely drink a beer or two on them :) Sebastian
