You will also need to add the server type attribute.

Okay then, I am using Vircom for Radius the only other thing I can think of
is the client type. In radius client definition: what shoult the client type
be set to?

It is the username and password detail items used in the dialup account.

Fred, I am correctly using rodopi 5.2 but will be upgrading soon to 5.3 and
Vircom radius.
Right now I am testing a dsa-3100 (dlink) However what I need to know is
what are the attributes setting in rodopi for the user name and passwords,
this dsa-3100 can talk to vircom radius in chap or pap. I have tried using
it with the dialup user name and password and it doesn't seem to work. The
dsa-3100 talks to my radius server and radius then goes and talks with
rodopi but times out. I think it is looking for differnet attributes.

Thanks
Steve

What AP are you planning to use? We've done this with Nomadix (hotspot
gateway), also using Orinoco (now Proxim) AP2500.
We didn't have to do much in Rodopi, we did have to create an ASP signup
page which the hotspot used to create new accounts.
Depending on your version of rodopi, your signup page will very greatly.

We use 5.1SP2 (before the time of auto-signup pages), it's possible just a
little difficult.

Rodopi doesn't need much other than a username and a password, if the
account is active and your AP is programmed to use the right radius server,
everything works nicely. If you want to get into more advanced features (if
your AP supports them), you need to add Radius Attributes to your server
(assuming you use Vircom, it's fairly easy) and then you create a new
account type in rodopi with your new radius profile including the radius
attributes you need and set their values and off you go. For example, we
can assign IP's, set bandwidth restrictions and a few other features through
the means I explained here using the AP2500 or the Nomadix device. We
created an account type (in rodopi) for Wireless and created a service plan
for different speeds, then each of those plans has different values set for
the radius attributes (up/down speeds).
