Zum 29. Mal erhellt das Festival den sonst so trüben November mit einem
abwechslungsreichen Programm: wir widmen uns sowohl dem regionalen
Filmgeschehen als auch besonders dem nationalen und internationalen
dokumentarischen Schaffen in all seinen Variationen. Es werden rund 250
aktuelle dokumentarische und künstlerisch-experimentelle Lang- und
Kurzfilme gezeigt, Medieninstallationen in der Ausstellung Monitoring
präsentiert und Audiovisuelle Performances und VJ-Sets in der
DokfestLounge aufgeführt. Außerdem nehmen wir aktuelle Themen der
Netzkultur unter die Lupe, laden zu spannenden Diskussionen über Film
und Kunst und bieten ambitionierten Nachwuchsfilmemacher/innen
praxisbezogene Veranstaltungen und Möglichkeiten zum Netzwerken. Als
Festival mit internationaler Ausrichtung, einem starken Fokus auf neue
Medien und der Vielfalt präsentierter Formate und Formen ist das Dokfest
mit seinem Profil einzigartig. 2012 findet das Dokfest vom 13. bis 18.
November statt.
Ab sofort sind alle Filmemacher/innen, Künstler/innen, VJs,
Verleiher/innen, Produzent/innen, Galerist/innen, Hochschulen und
Institutionen eingeladen, sich mit aktuellen Arbeiten und Projekten für
das 29. Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- und Videofest zu bewerben.
Das gesamte Filmprogramm sowie die Arbeiten der Ausstellung Monitoring
und das Performance-Programm werden aus allen Einreichungen ausgewählt.
Es werden bis zu 60 Arbeiten für die vier Preise des Festivals
nominiert. Darüber hinaus laden wir die im Programm vertretenen
Filmemacher/innen und Künstler/innen nach Möglichkeit zur Diskussion
ihrer Arbeiten nach Kassel ein.
*PREISE*
Das Festival vergibt drei Geldpreise im Gesamtwert von 11.500 Euro und
ein Produktions-Stipendium. Die Preise sind für die teilnehmenden
Autor/innen und Künstler/innen bestimmt. Über die Vergabe entscheiden
unabhängige Jurys. Das Bemühen des Festivals um den filmischen Nachwuchs
findet in dem durch die Stadt Kassel geförderten *Goldenen Schlüssel*
für die beste dokumentarische Nachwuchsarbeit seinen Ausdruck. Das
Preisgeld beträgt 5.000 €. Der mit 3.000 € dotierte *Goldene Herkules*
für eine herausragende nordhessische Produktion wird von der Machbar
GmbH, Agentur für Unternehmenskommunikation mit Hauptsitz in Kassel,
vergeben. Die beste Installation der Ausstellung Monitoring wird mit dem
*Golden Cube* und 3.500 €, gestiftet von dem Softwareunternehmen
Micromata GmbH, ausgezeichnet. Das Festival vergibt zudem gemeinsam mit
Werkleitz - Zentrum für Medienkunst das *A38 - Produktions-Stipendium
Kassel-Halle*. Wünschenswertes Ziel ist die Schaffung eines neuen
filmischen Werkes, das auch ein junges Filmpublikum abholt und auf
Augenhöhe anspricht. Das Stipendium ist dank des Engagements der
Hessischen Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien (LPR
Hessen) und der Medienanstalt Sachsen-Anhalt (MSA) mit bis zu 3.000 €
Unterhalts- sowie max. 1.000 € Reisekosten ausgestattet. Darüber hinaus
stehen Sachleistungen im Wert von bis zu 4.000 € zur Verfügung.

For the 29th time the festival will present the diversity of regional,
national and international documentary work in all its variation. About
250 international short and feature length documentary films as well as
experimental and artistic works will be presented during the six days of
the festival. The program is complemented by the media art exhibition
Monitoring, audiovisual performances and VJ-ing at the DokfestLounge,
the workshop seminar interfiction, the DokfestForum and several events
dedicated to young Hessian filmmakers. All in all, it adds up to a
profile that is unique among the festival scene. The Kassel Documentary
Film and Video Festival 2012 will take place for the 29th time from
November 13 to 18.
We now invite all filmmakers, artists, VJs, distributors, producers,
gallery owners, universities or institutions to submit their most
current works and projects for the 29th Kassel Documentary Film and
Video Festival.
The entire film program as well as the works for the exhibition
Monitoring and the performance program will be selected from all
submissions. Up to 60 works will be nominated for the four awards of the
festival. Also we will invite and try to enable all participating
authors and artists to come to Kassel during the festival and to join us
for discussions.
*AWARDS*
A selection of the films presented in the festival program will be
nominated for one of the four awards. The festival grants three money
prizes with a total worth of 11,500 Euro and one production grant. The
awards are dedicated to the participating authors and artists.
Independent juries decide about the allocation of the awards. The
*Golden Key* awards the best documentary submitted by a young director.
It is endowed with 5,000 € and supported by the City of Kassel. The
*Golden Hercules*, worth 3,000 €, awards an outstanding production from
the region of Northern Hesse. It's sponsored by the Machbar GmbH, a
corporate communications company headquartered in Kassel. The software
company Micromata GmbH continuously supports the *Golden Cube* with
3,500 € in prize money. It awards the best installation of the
exhibition Monitoring. Moreover, both the festival and the Werkleitz -
Centre for Media Art present the *A38-Production Grant Kassel-Halle*. It
is a desired objective to produce a new cinematic work which also
appeals to a younger audience and addresses this younger audience on an
eye-to-eye level. Thanks to the kind support of the LPR Hessen and the
Medienanstalt Sachsen-Anhalt (regulatory authorities for commercial
broadcasting in Hesse and Saxony-Anhalt) the grant includes up to 4,000
€ for living and traveling expenses and up to additional 4,000 € for
allowance in kind.
