11-09-38 International Sound Art Competition In commemoration of the 70 th anniversary of the historical tragedy of >Reichskristallnacht< on November 9, 1938, the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin (CHB), the Hungarian Institute of Culture, announces an international Sound Art competition. Artistic proposals are requested which reflect upon this particular historical event as well as upon the architecture of the CHB building. Both the indoor and the outdoor spaces of the institute offer room for site-specific audio-visual installations, enabling them to become part of the open space of the city. The exhibition will open on the 70th anniversary of the >Kristallnacht<, on November 9, 2008 and will run until December 9, 2008. Further to the exhibition, the CHB intends to host a one-day symposium on Sound Art. An expert jury will review all entries and select one single proposal. The winning proposal will be provided with a budget of 5.000 EUR for the realisation of the project. The artist will also receive a personal award of 1.000 EUR. Requirements Proposals are accepted from artists from all nationalities and ages. A proposal should include: . a conceptual description for a site-specific audio-visual installation as part of an indoor/outdoor exhibition, . project sketches, sound files, images, storyboard, . artistic statement, CV, documentation of reference projects (PDF-/jpg-files, CD, DVD). application Deadline: June 20, 2008. The decision of the jury will be announced on July 14, 2008. The jury's decision is final and it cannot be legally challenged. Collegium Hungaricum Berlin is situated in the historical centre of Berlin in the neighbourhood of the Museum Island, Humboldt University, and other cultural venues. Its architecture relies on the Bauhaus style, specifically on the design ideas of Moholy-Nagy. At night, the CHBs largest front window with its 6 x 7m size is available as a projection screen. Sound systems can also be installed in the outside area of the building.
