I am running Roller 2.1 and I have had this problem on most of my blogs. The comments come up disabled for all new entries, I did not have the time to try to troubleshoot it, I scoured the configuration and settings, there is no setting to permanently disable comments, in all my blogs the comments are enabled and public for all. I am waiting for Roller 2.3 to try everything again.
