After penning the passage above, you have the temerity to use the word 'idiot' in reference to someone else? > Gah, learn to code, lest you make even further of an idiot out of > yourself. He tried to learn. You apparently don't know the answer. Personally, I'd prefer you gave a stupid answer rather than make a stupid joke, but perhaps the list members should vote on that. I suppose your jokes are less likely to be taken seriously and acted upon. Just to keep things in perspective, computers are really stupid. After all, two is the smallest number you can have (if you only have one of something, you don't have a number of them, true?) and computers can't count that high. Talking to a computer in it's native language is a bit tedious even for MegaNerd, so higher level languages were born. And raised. Most were never really house-broken though. Languages that need to be compiled are still pretty low on the input food chain, so your assumption that the inquirer is less intelligent than you is, statistically, unlikely. In summation, I believe if your message is merely 'You need to learn, but I'm not competent or capable enough to teach you.', you may consider that the default on this list, and merely say nothing. If you wish to make a joke, perhaps a tag in the header, in the manner promoted by Javelin on rec.games.mud.announce, might be beneficial. Subject:[(evil aura)JOKE] Re: Compile Question Sandi PS: If by some quirk, I missed offending anybody, I apologise. I tried hard not to leave anyone out. Just keep repeating: "I am Man! I am happier than a monkey!". Sandi Fallon has been 'not writing' most of her life, and is currently trying to think of a good name for a rock band....
