Hey all- I got a report from a user that sometimes when they connect they get junk characters on their screen. This appears to be related to MCCP.
After some testing, (Several zmud sessions connecting simultaneously), I've finally been able to reproduce it. Unfortunately, even reproducing it, I cannot narrow down the problem. (I can reproduce it once in about 30 connections, 5 connections at a time) I added debugging my telnet negotiation out to a text file so I could compare them. Here's a good one: Telopt: [7][send][ IAC WILL MCCP_2 ] Telopt: [7][send][ IAC WILL MCCP_1 ] Telopt: [7][send][ IAC DO NAWS ] Telopt: [7][send][ IAC WILL END_OF_RECORD ] Telopt: [7][send][ IAC WILL MSP ] Telopt: [7][send][ IAC WILL MXP ] Telopt: [7][recv][ IAC DO MCCP_2 ] Telopt: [7][send][ IAC SB MCCP_2 IAC SE ] Telopt: [7][recv][ IAC DO MCCP_2 ] Telopt: [7][recv][ IAC DONT MCCP_1 ] Telopt: [7][recv][ IAC WILL NAWS ] Telopt: [7][recv][ IAC SB NAWS 0 73 0 3 ] Telopt: [7][recv][ IAC SE ] Telopt: [7][recv][ IAC DONT END_OF_RECORD ] Telopt: [7][recv][ IAC DO MSP ] Telopt: [7][recv][ IAC DO MXP ] And here's a bad one: Telopt: [4][send][ IAC WILL MCCP_2 ] Telopt: [4][send][ IAC WILL MCCP_1 ] Telopt: [4][send][ IAC DO NAWS ] Telopt: [4][send][ IAC WILL END_OF_RECORD ] Telopt: [4][send][ IAC WILL MSP ] Telopt: [4][send][ IAC WILL MXP ] Telopt: [4][recv][ IAC DO MCCP_2 ] Telopt: [4][send][ IAC SB MCCP_2 IAC SE ] Telopt: [4][recv][ IAC DO MCCP_2 ] Telopt: [4][recv][ IAC DONT MCCP_1 ] Telopt: [4][recv][ IAC WILL NAWS ] Telopt: [4][recv][ IAC SB NAWS 0 73 0 3 ] Telopt: [4][recv][ IAC SE ] Telopt: [4][recv][ IAC DONT END_OF_RECORD ] Telopt: [4][recv][ IAC DO MSP ] Telopt: [4][recv][ IAC DO MXP ] See the difference? Me either. So I'm trying to deduce what this problem could be. I'm going to try another client that supports MCCP, perhaps I've uncovered some strange bug with zmud (pretty unlikely), but on the mud end, I don't see anything wrong. Any ideas, pointers? Jason
