- You can't interrupt it except by killing it or bringing it to the front and then ^C it. - You don't know if it's finished except by pressing enter and waiting for the Exit message. - What are you going to do in the mean time? Running "jobs" so you can see if it is still running? - If you accidently ^D you've lost the jobs and its output forever. etc Daemons, servers and batch-programs are supposed to go into the background.
