Remind me to put this in all my messages. > That being said, I'm going through my MUDs code, and thinning the > files...now what I'm wondering is...how to redo my Makefile so that I <snip> One recommendation is to check out "Managing Project with make" by Andrew Oram & Steve Talbott, published by O'Reilly. It's a very good book at learning how make files really work, and like all O'Reilly books, if your even a little bit computer litterate, these books speak well to you. It's focused around c projects so perfect for a mud. Now outside this, the way your describeing things sounds awfully complicated, You want to break up moduals of the code into directories for the purpose of cleaning up the code? That's a good idea over all although you may have 'header' hell when it comes to compileing things. Unless you want to put thru your code #include "../magic/magic1.h" But this is up to you. In any case, I have some knowlage of makefiles but your idea isn't completely clear in my head. Can you give a specific break down of what you want to do and then maybe we can work together on what kind of makefile to create to do it. (Or multiple makefiles) Tony
