Isn't the startup script in the src dir?  So you would actually have to
be in the /home/pumpkin/QuickMUD/src directory, then type ./startup
&....  due to the fact that I think it is looking for your ../area
directory.  Just my thoughts.

Does anyone have that modified startup script that one person was
talking
about that utilized bash instead? Please paste it in a message to the
list.
