I've been a member of this list on two prior occasions.

The first time, our effort in coding lapsed because of a lack of funds.

The second time, on my own personal computer, lapsed because I was the
target of a rather nefarious computer virus that destroyed pretty much all
of my files.

That was about a year ago. But recently I have found on disk an old backup
of my code that I thoguht was long gone...and the creative juices have
started to flow once more.

Unfortunately, it is an old copy, with many of the things I remember putting
in nolonger there....and new problems that I do not remember having before.
I hope one of you might be able to provide some help.

First, before I lost the code, I could switch into mobs and talk and hear
people talk and fight and actually SEE the fight going on.

Now, when I switch into mobs, it's like they are COMPLETELY no_channeled.
not even say or yell...and they can not even see if they are
fighting...also, the imm switched into the mob experiences some monster lag
on their commands (noone else experiences this).

------

Second, has to do with Object Progs (ugh). I started with "StarterMud" that
had OLC 1.71 with Mobprogs.

I remember that I had figured this out with the help of this list ...but I
can't for the life of me figure out how now, and I can not find it in the
Archives.

I remember before that I had a whole bunch of trouble with it.

The desired effect is "Item worn or wielded has random chance in combat to
heal/cast onto the PC that is wearing/wielding it".

In order to have this happen, I understand how to get the oprog to go off
randomly in combat. I understand how to use the oprog to load a mob with the
same name as the item and then force that mob to do the casting because the
Object can't do it itself.

But, there is no Variable for "pc who is wielding/wearing the item" the
closest I can find is $n which is the name of whomever caused the trigger to
happen but that doesn't work. Nor does $q (the name of the MOPprogram target
using MOB REMEMBER) work even half of the time.

So my problem is adding in a $ variable into the code for "pc who
wields/wears the item"....and I am at a loss on how to start.
