If I were a newbie coder, this is how I'd go about figuring out something like this (I'm not going to give you the exact code):
First, find a place in the code where you know race is displayed for a player (try the function do_score). You can there see how race is listing for a player and how it is displayed. Now, you're going to want to take that usage to get the race, but in do_look you're going to want to reference the victim(s) (whoever is in the room) instead of the ch (you). After you find and display that you can delete or comment out (I'd suggest commenting out for now in case you change your mind or need to go back to it) the line that would read "Syn is here fighting a mud monster".
