happens when one day you need even MORE vnums?

64kB RAM, people believed him. Why disbelieve me now?
Anyway, you could always turn it into a 'long int', or
failing that, replace every instance mentioned in that
other email of hard-coded upper limits with some kind
of const value or macro that does something like
#define MAX_NUM_VALUE 1 << (8 * sizeof(sh_int))
so that any future expansions (eg: long int) don't
require MORE changes at a later date.
I probably got that line wrong, so don't copy it into
your code without asking a less asleep C programmer
what it means.
