Chris, I suggest you stop trying to attack others for their opinions and remarks, and actually learn something from what is being said here. You stated that you wanted to start a "new topic", yet when it comes down to it, you brought up the same old crap in the other one. Great move.
------------- I do however find it odd that you come on this list and bash me because I'm trying to understand something.. ------------- If you were "trying to understand something", you wouldn't have drug this out into a SECOND topic (soon to be a third, I'm sure) on an ordinarily quiet list. It's a one on one debate. You said it can't be done, won't listen to people who said it CAN be done, and it's quite annoying to say the least. Much like your supposed "logout" bug, this is misinformation, whether deliberate or not, it is. Use the archives, you'll see plenty of examples of how things CAN be done through SQL, and implement them yourself, or don't, either way, the horse is dead, quit beating it. Speaking from experience: SQL can VERY easily be integrated into the game, and there are a very good number of reasons to do them, all of which have been mentioned here, many times. Memory, ease of use, even availability and portability. You've stated that you don't understand that, so, why not try learning a bit about what you don't understand, not from the list (last time I checked, this wasn't a tutorial for one person, it was a discussion list), but from numerous sites, snippets, and even the list archives. As with anything, it can be implemented in a right and a wrong way, and each implementation has consequences. It's up to the end user (the coder) to evaluate whether the good outweighs the bad in their specific instance. Your comments regarding Kyndig/Mudmagic are both unfounded and quite unnecessary, not to mention off topic. Kyndig provides more to this community than most will ever think of being able to, and those helping him should be credited, not attacked, as should he. ------------- Actually, I haven't once bashed anyone on this list for any reply.. But I've been bashed various times now for merely trying to get ideas, thoughts or whatever to see if it was worth releasing a copy of rom with sql already done. ------------- Actually, what you've been "bashed" for is ignorance, that and beating an already dead horse repeatedly. If you want to learn how it's done, great, if you want to contribute to the community by doing it, great, but it's time to stop acting like you know all, when you don't. hell, even -=I=- don't (and I never claimed to mind you), and I've been working on integrating SQL into rom for a good 3-5 years now. Eventually, I'll get off my tail end and finish it all up ;) And now, I return to my normal lurking state
