Hi, One thing I have noticed having been on the ROM mailing list for some time is the sheer volume of requests for help regarding compiling ROM using Cygwin. Most of the problems could be addressed with a simple update to the Makefiles and maybe a simple definition of a new compiler directive -DCYGWIN ??? This done, then an "out of the box" compile could be done by using the Makefile.cygwin ... (Maybe even Russ or one of the other ROM team would considder an interim release including such an update :-P ... ) ... Purley as a point of interest (although I am not sure of any details) I believe the latest release of cygwin/gdb/gcc includes a dumper utility which supposedly will allow for usable (gdb readable) core dumps .. I could be totaly wrong here so don`t flame me :P.. but it might be worth looking at ..
As for me Im an Ex Cygwin user .. its FreeBSD all the way now :) .. however without Cygwin Id never have got`n started . It`s a great tool, I believe its here to stay ..that being the case the ROM community should considder supporting it. If noth else it would lessen the repeated posts to the ROM list regarding Cygwin compiling issues.. *~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~* Balo Implementor - Stormbringer Rebirth telnet://storm.sytes.net:4500 http://www.stormbringer.sytes.net Remember to VOTE for us !! http://www.topmudsites.com/cgi-bin/topmuds/rankem.cgi?id=balo
