Find the line that says:
            bug( "Fread_char: no match.", 0 );
After that, put
            bug( word, 0 );
Then you'll see something like:
[*****] BUG: Fread_char: no match.
[*****] BUG: Hpmv

or whatever the mystery key is.
You may need to set fMatch where that key is read, or stop saving the
value to pfile, or whatever.
I doubt the crashing is related, but you never know..
