Hey all, I was just thinking as I was continuing my work on my MUD, which requires a major overhaul on the codebase and alot of the stock features removed or altered.
Now I'm way too far along to even contemplate this notion but I was wondering what everyone else thinks on this. So here it is. Would it be better to strip ROM down to just a bar bones versoin of itself (e.g., Races, Classes, and just the structures for everything else with no content) and build and add as needed based on the world that you are trying to create or Would it be better to add and build based on what ROM has and change accordingly, keep in mind if you remove one feature that the stock ROM has you'll be changing things in every file for a while ( I know, I've been doing it for almost a month now) I think both have their strong points, though it might be a bit more difficult with the first option, because you would need to know the code fairly thoroughly, while the second option you just need to know where certain things are (and you always have grep). Well, I was bored and started to seeing code in front of my eyes when I wasn't even looking at the monitor so I thought I'd post this. So let me know what you think. ===== John Mariotti | http://epmud.tripod.com | Endless Passages | ICQ 144203211 | AIM: Vercingitorixx | YIM: endlesspassages | ------------------------------------------------ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
