APPEAL
to all YEPP organizations and our friends

Dear Friends,

In nowadays Ukraine the authorities cynically neglect the will of the
Ukrainian people. The way the election campaign was held in eastern
regions of Ukraine, which are controlled by the authorities, has nothing
to do with democracy. On the elections day above 5000 observers from
opposition were expelled from the voting stations. In several polling
stations the turnover was more then 100% (sometimes even 105%), which is
more that an evident example of attempt to falsify the results of
elections. In addition, there were issued 1,5 mln of vidkripnyh taloniv
(special papers) which allowed the groups of people who were transported
by the buses to vote several times.

Despite total administrative pressure and the massive bribing of voters
and members of election commissions, citizens of Ukraine refused with a
majority of their votes to trust the existing government regime and its
candidate for the presidency Yanukovych. In the second round as well as in
the first, the candidate from the democratic opposition received a
decisive majority of votes and a decisive victory in seventeen out of
twenty-six Ukrainian regions. The results of the exit-pool which involved
28 000 respondents all around Ukraine showed the undoubtful victory of
Yuschenko who was supported by 54% votes while his opponent Yanukovich got
only 43%. And after all this the Central Election Commission plans to
announce the victory of Yanikovich today.

The majority of local self-governing bodies in western and central regions
of Ukraine have already declared their support to the democratically
elected President. Millions of citizens of Ukraine, who came onto the
streets of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities
demonstrated the lack of trust to the regime of Kuchma-Yanukovych set
against the people and expressed the full support behind the newly elected
President. Every hour new universities, enterprises, city administrations
are stopping their work, joining the demonstrators and declare their
support.

The regime of Kuchma-Yanukovych set against the people ignoring the will
of the Ukrainian people, threatened it with civil war, implemented an
emergency situation, seized the force of the Constitution and the laws of
Ukraine. Moreover unprecedented information has arrived to our headquarter
and news agencies today: 17 aircrafts from Russia has landed to Zhulyany
airport in Kyiv! In every aircraft is about 80 men that has changed their
dress into Ukrainian police uniform!

In the name of Ukrainian people we appeal to you to grant the full
political and moral support to Ukrainian people, come to defend democracy
and freedom in Ukraine, and not allow the renewal of a totalitarian
anti-democratic system of power by recognizing falsified election results.
>From our side we will do everything possible to guarantee the rights and
democratic freedoms of citizens, to prevent conflicts and bloodshed.
Democracy in Ukraine will win. Totalitarism and criminal-clan regime will
not stand. Ukrainian people cannot be defeated!

Sincerely yours,

Galina Fomenchenko, CDMU International secretary
Oleksandr Yarema, CDMU Chairman
